The new year begins....

and so the new year begins... This song from the movie Sense and Sensibility has made me comtemplate what the new year has in store. Please listen to the music as you scroll down...

And as I watch the rain pour down outside my windows this morning..it sets a mood of what's next?

My creativity is demanding more than just dolls, and dollhouse miniatures. So I want to stretch my wings and fly to untrod fields of new techniques , other artistic avenues...just to do something different, for a challenge, to see what I can do, and accomplish...

I am currently working on some new techniques for the doll foods, and made these wonderful 1:3, 1:4 and 1:6 scale St. Honore pastries. The dolls are enjoying them!

I expanded into the larger scales as this is a part of my 1:6 scale Chateau project with my custom Louis and Marie Antoinette and their family. My inspiration was the Kirsten Dunst movie Marie Antoinette from 2006, I loved the contrast of color, costume and sets in that movie.
I still have alot of work to do on Louis' outfit as well as creating the Dauphin's outfit.

The table holds a 1:3 St. Honore on the cake stand, and Marie Antoinette holds a 1:6 in this last picture. I could not resist replicating the picture of the little dog on the fauteuil sofa eating the pastry so I used Mops. The pink ones are some of my best, I think, those raspberries were so time consuming but fun to create! More will be forthcoming on this project soon.

New Transportation for Wren...

My Realpuki Soso, Wren, has new transportation at Santa's workshop. Hallmark Kiddie Classic jingle bells fire truck I won off of ebay. These little kiddie classic car ornaments can be found on ebay and are not that expensive and perfect for tiny dolls. They also fit Tommy and Kelly, Liddle Kiddles and Felix Brownies or Puki Pukis.

It perfectly matches her striped Christmas pj's I made her, I might take off her wig and substitute a hat. Still have to sew the pom poms on her pjs'. Meanwhile , since the tinies were having fun with the new toy, the elves were hard at work in Santa's workshop.

Gracie and her toys...

I have neglected my MSD sized Soulkid bjd for a long long time now, she has had no camera time. Gracie  is my model for my 1:3 and 1:4 scale doll foods, as are my American Girl dolls and my Sybarite Slipper. I have missed making my 1:3 scale foods and would like to get back to it after the Fashion Royalty convention.  I set up a photo shoot with her and some toys, especially one of my favorite props, that little quarter scale dollhouse which works great for my 1:6 scale bjd's and Chelseas.
Hopefully I will have some new foods in the works, and more pics coming...

Dixie goes exploring...

I have sadly neglected Dixie lately....so I took her with me on a walk at Lewis Ginter Botanical gardens and took some photos. It is a fairytale place, with tons of nooks and crannies that pixies love to build their homes. I keep thinking when I walk there that I will see the Borrowers, or Beatrix Potter's characters, or mice building their little homes in roots of the trees...yeah- very active imagination I have!

These photos were taken on a 100 year old Elm Tree that the Gardens has preserved.

I have an account at Paperback Swap and recently acquired 'Midnight in the Dollhouse' which is a very good book for those that enjoy stories, any story, about dolls and dollhouses. I have quite a collection of books like this, and have enjoyed them all of my life, ever since I was a young kid sitting in front of my dollhouse creating and playing. My good friend Wendy of Norm's Dollhouse has a new blog- Midnight in the Dollhouse and this book is what I think her blog was named for- after she read the book. I saw her post on Facebook and got the book from paperback swap.

Paperback swap is a great place to swap out your old books in good condition, receive credits for books others have posted. You can even print postage from your computer on the site and it has directions for wrapping the books. I have a full bookshelf and am steadily cleaning out books I don't read anymore. I have belonged for a few years now and have found some great books. I have another book when the Dolls Woke and am looking forward to adding it to my dollhouse book collection.

I will try to take some more pics of the tinies and hope you enjoy exploring Paperbackswap!

Quiet on the Set! Sunday Morning....

Shhh! They are filming!

I am watching and helping Lisa with the lighting of the doll town in the doll room. Lisa has been steadily organizing and you can read more about it on her blog The One Sixth Scale Dollhouse . She has come a long way in a few days on her doll room organization project. Here are some more pics...

I love watching filming on the set!

Back to us tinies, Well, it's about to get crowded in the one room dollhouse. Lisa found Miss Hitty in a pile of clothing in the other dollhouse, as well as Wren in a teacup! (I know...dolls in teacups and piles of fashion doll clothing! What next? ) So I may very well move out and let Hitty Darling live with Maizie and Wren and have my own room somewhere else. For those of you who don't know who Hitty Darling is, she is a small replica of a wooden doll from Hitty: the first Hundred years. There are lots and lots of Hitty Collectors out there.

Here is a photo of Hitty with her little gingham dress and red cape on. She's really very nice and keeps us straight, and worries about us not eating home cooked meals since Maizie and I like ice cream and cake and hamburgers...but she makes great pies...that Hitty is a great pie maker!

Oh well, later- and have a Happy Sunday!
